ColourPop Haul + Swatches and Mini Review!

When I did my Sephora shopping last April, I told myself that it would be my birthday treat to myself because the stuff I bought there were pretty expensive! Of course, come my birthday month, I felt the NEED to buy more, uhm, makeup.

KathleenLights came out with her own eyeshadow foursome in collaboration with ColourPop and I've always wanted to get it the day it became available on the ColourPop website, but I was holding myself back from immediately buying it because of my big makeup spending last April! Three days after my birthday, I was on the website, looking at all the pretty stuff I could buy, then all of a sudden, my sister Hannah told me that she was going to buy me Kathleen's Where The Light Is quad as her birthday present to me! And now here we are!

When I purchased my ColourPop items, ColourPop was also celebrating their own birthday! They just recently turned 1 year old as a company and they were giving away a limited edition eyeshadow pot called Birthday Girl! I'm so glad I decided to shop that day because I ended up getting an extra gift for myself FOR FREE! I really was a Birthday Girl! Thanks ColourPop! <3

Anyway, here are the few things I got from them!

  1. Where The Light Is foursome - $20
  2. Lippie Stix in Lumière - $5
  3. Lippie Stix in Julep - $5
  4. FREE: Birthday Girl Supershock Shadow (not available anymore)

~ WHERE THE LIGHT IS ~

Let's talk about the main reason why I was on the ColourPop website in the first place! As I said, Kathleen collaborated with ColourPop to create this eyeshadow foursome and because I love Kathleen, I really wanted to support her so I'm really glad my sister got this for me! (Maybe she got annoyed at me for ALWAYS talking about Kathleen and ColourPop haha) It comes in a very cute pink packaging with rose gold  accents! It is a foursome, not a palette, so the eyeshadows are in individual pots, like every other eyeshadow on the ColourPop website.

These are the shades Kathleen came up with and OMG, these are so gorgeous! The texture of these shadows are soft and creamy, almost like a mousse-type of shadow but it comes off like a normal powder eyeshadow once it hits the skin. These shadows have a really unique formula and I think it's why they are in individual pots. It is advised to close the jar lids tightly to keep the eyeshadows from drying out. One important thing about these shadows: they are best applied with your fingers! I also use a very dense synthetic brush for picking up pigment sometimes, but if you want the best color payoff out of these shadows, using the fingers is the way to go.

I like that Kathleen created a warm set of eyeshadow colors! I feel more comfortable using warm shades and that's why I know I'll really get a lot of use out of these shadows! My favorite shade out of the four is Kathleenlights!

Glow is the perfect brow bone and inner corner highlight! You can also use this as a base eyeshadow for any eyeshadow look because it is a matte finish.

Cornelius is the perfect crease/transition shade! It is very light on my hand but you can really build this color up. It can also be used as an all-over lid shade for that no makeup makeup look.

Kathleenlights, my favorite, is such a pretty golden copper color! This shade makes me go hnngggg!!!

Last but not least, we got Blaze and it's like a chocolatey bronzed sparkly shadow! It's perfect for giving the eyes that extra depth and oomf factor! It is very glittery though so there will be some glitter fallouts.

These eyeshadows are very pigmented and are very easy to blend! If you want to learn more about these shadows, watch Kathleen's video! Kathleen is also providing a $5 discount code you can use at the checkout. The code is "kathleenlights" and it is valid until June 30th!

~ BIRTHDAY GIRL ~

I am so happy I was able to get this eyeshadow before it was gone because it is such a pretty champagne color! It has a very slight pinky undertone which made me love it even more! I usually don't really like glittery eyeshadows but I don't mind the glitter on this one. I think it made this eyeshadow extra magical! This shadow is really glittery so expect glitter fallout, and I know, this is like the most unimportant thing to notice about this eyeshadow but I LOVE that the pot of this eyeshadow is pink! HAHA. I'm the type of person who gives points to the packaging of products! If the packaging is ugly, there's a possibility I won't buy it! HAHA.

~ LIPPIE STIX in Lumière and Julep ~

I also got two lippie stix from ColourPop because, why not? I find that these lipsticks are smaller compared to regular lipstick tubes, which I find is very nice for a more precise application. I'm not a fan of the packaging because it looks like it's made out of really CHEAP plastic but the lipstick is indeed CHEAP because it's just $5 so I can't really complain. One thing I like about the packaging is that it has the lipstick shade at the bottom of the tube so it's easy to distinguish one from the other. These lipsticks are very smooth and creamy and they apply really well. They have a faint smell of vanilla (?), almost like a cupcake smell, without any annoying taste.

Lumiere is also a collaboration with KathleenLights and it is this beautiful mauve pink color, almost like a really muted purple. It turns matte after a couple minutes and I find that this lipstick is a bit tacky for a matte lip product. It's not sticky but it's tacky. The application of this lipstick is very smooth and creamy and very pigmented despite it being matte!

Julep is a very bright pink orange shade which is perfect for the summer season! I don't know about you but for me, this shade screams FUN! It is a cream finish lipstick without it looking too shiny which is good because I don't like slippery things on my lips. It is very pigmented and it's very easy to apply.

I think ColourPop is an amazing company and a really great makeup brand and I will definitely buy more products from them. Their eyeshadows are made out of a very unique formula that I think everyone should try out! The lippie stix are really great too and there are so many colors to choose from. They also have lipliners, blushes, highlighters and bronzers so you should go check out their website now!

I made sure I didn't edit these photos on VSCO just so I can show you the real color payoff of the eyeshadow and lipstick shades.

I hope you found this post helpful and somehow informative. If you've already heard about ColourPop and are a little scared to try them out, I'm telling you now to go for it because they are amazing! If you are a ColourPop fan, let me know which products you own! I already plan on purchasing some more soon and I want to know which ones I should get next!
