Is the Kosas Tinted Face Oil Good or Nah?

Believe me, I was also skeptical at first. But after using this "foundation" for the first time, there is no way I'm going to use anything else.

I know, that’s a pretty bold statement to say, but it’s the truth! I sometimes can’t even believe it myself because I’ve always been a full-coverage gal, but things have changed for me since being a mom and this change is one that I’ve been loving so much.

I don’t see or hear a lot of people talk about this product but I’ve been a fan of a few Kosas products for some time now. But when I saw Tati review and test this foundation on her channel, I became very curious! An oil that is a foundation that gives beautiful natural coverage without looking cakey or oily? Sounded too good to be true, but I trusted my gut and Tati’s recommendation so when Jorge took me on a little Sephora trip a few months ago, I took advantage of testing some shades in-store and walked away with the shade 06 (which I think is perfect on me).

Kosas calls the Tinted Face Oil the future of Foundation because it’s like a hybrid of makeup and skincare. This face oil is incredibly lightweight while providing that beautiful medium-coverage canvas that evens out skin tone, blurs out pores, and hides imperfections!

PROS:

  • Absorbs into the skin like butter and feels super lightweight!
Because it’s a face oil and not so much an actual foundation, the consistency of this product is very watery and thin. That’s why I blend it with my fingers because I feel like a brush or a beauty sponge will just absorb and waste product. But because it’s watery in consistency, it feels like nothing! You won’t feel that heavy foundation feeling ever.

  • Skin-like Finish + Gorgeous Glow!
Makes your skin look velvety, a finish I’ve never really seen in other foundations. I set it with powder because I get pretty oily throughout the day but if you’re on the drier side, you can get away with leaving it as is. I find that powder products blend nicely on top either way. Also, it gives your skin such a beautiful healthy glow that sometimes, you won’t feel the need to finish your makeup haha.

  • Buildable Coverage
I do think that this product is buildable. You can apply as little or as much product as you want and you’ll get different results each time. The more product you apply, the fuller the coverage but it will never feel heavy on the skin.

  • Self-Adjusting Color
This tinted face oil doesn’t come in 40 shades, but because of its self-adjusting color technology, you’ll be able to find a shade that will work for your skin tone no matter how light, medium, or dark your tone is.

  • Clean Ingredients!
The one and most important factor about this tinted face oil is that it uses only clean and non-toxic products!

CONS:

  • It’s pretty pricey for this little bottle. It costs $42 for 1 fl oz., but honestly, it’s so worth it! It’s lasted me 4 months now (but then again, I do not wear makeup everyday)

  • Not the most long-wearing. I find that once it hits that 5/6-hour mark, my face starts to look a little too “glowy” if you know what I mean. Haha. But it’s nothing a little blotting or powder cannot fix.

  • It’s not so much an actual con, but it’s something worth noting: The packaging is something I’ve never really seen or experience before. It’s in a squeezy bottle with a pointy opening and you have to shake the bottle really well before using it. (I guess this is the norm with oil-based products? not sure but it don’t find it to be a hassle at all)

So there you have it. Those are all my thoughts about this “foundation”. To shorten everything up,

YES, I DO LOVE THIS TINTED FACE OIL

and I do think it’s really good! If there’s a foundation I’d recommend to everyone, it will be this one. To show you what it looks like in natural light without any filters or edits, it’s this photo to the right (or below if you’re reading this using your phone). It looks so flawless while looking so natural at the same time. I highly recommend it!
