Benefit Porefessional VS NYX Pore Filler

Are you one of those ladies who feel ecstatic when you discover a dupe for a great BUT very expensive high end product? That's me too!

Back when I was in Canada, I saw Benefit's Porefessional floating around the YouTube world and I gave into the hype. Did I find it awesome? Yes. I think it's a really great product for its purpose, but is it worthy of its price point? I don't think so. I tried to find an alternative for it because I didn't want to keep spending $31 for a primer (and it's even more expensive in Whitehorse), but I had no luck. I settled for Maybelline's Baby Skin but I don't think it fills in my pores as well as the Porefessional primer. So, my hunt continued when I moved to the US. Last month, I picked up NYX's Pore Filler and guess what, I think I found my DUPE!

Let's compare the two:

22.0 mL | $31

22.0 mL | $31

Quickly minimize the appearance of pores & fine lines for smoother-than-smooth skin! Apply this silky, lightweight balm alone, under or over makeup. Translucent, oil-free formula complements all skintones and helps makeup stay put. Contains a Vitamin E derivative, known to protect skin from free radicals.

20 mL | $13

20 mL | $13

Reduce the appearance of your pores with our Pore Filler. The perfect pre-foundation basecoat this talc-free oil-free formulation includes Vitamin E to smooth and enhance your skin.

So, they're basically the same thing and they do the same things for our skin. The Porefessional contains a little bit more product than the NYX Pore Filler but if we look at their price points, I think the NYX primer wins.

When it comes to their formulas, I can tell that they are slightly different. The Porefessional looks smoother than NYX's Pore Filler. You can tell from the picture below that the NYX comes out kind of "poopy". You know when you eat something really bad and you end up destroying the toilet, that's how the NYX primer look like when you squeeze it out of the tube. It even makes the fart sounds. Sorry about the gross description. 😂

But when you start blending them into the skin, I can say that THEY ARE THE EXACT SAME THING! They both fill in my pores well, they both blend into the skin so nicely, these both leave a really smooth finish on the face and these don't feel oily on the fingers after application. Benefit's Porefessional has a faint scent to it and NYX's Pore Filler doesn't smell like anything at all. Primers are also supposed to prolong the wear of your makeup and these two are great for that purpose.

I have sensitive skin so it's important for me to know whether a makeup product will cause me breakouts, and so far, the NYX primer still hasn't let the little monsters out so let's sing HALLELUJAH!

So, if you've been wanting to try out Benefit's The Porefessional but you don't like the idea of burning $31 on a primer, I suggest that you pick up NYX's Pore Filler. 😉
