Getting A Little Personal over Bedroom Furniture

Not sure if you noticed but I barely snapped or shared photos/videos of our bedroom.

It’s because IT WAS A MESS 24/7! We didn’t have a bed, bed frame, dressers, and whatnot so everything was literally on the floor! WE SLEPT ON THE FLOOR!

This whole situation made me feel so whack because “we couldn’t afford this”, “we couldn’t buy that”, and I just had all these discouraging thoughts in my head because I FELT SO POOR. Like yo, we legit couldn’t afford to buy the things I thought “WE NEEDED”.

I failed to realize and see that I’m actually really blessed because my family and I are alive. We’re not starving. We live in an apartment building with working AC. We don’t have to walk three/ten blocks to do our laundry. We have a stunning view of Downtown Brickell. We can drive to Trader Joe’s to get organic food. We have toilet paper. I can still put makeup on. My daughter has cute clothes to wear. My husband and I are still able to work from home. We had a lit Christmas tree for the holidays. We were able to give our daughter gifts. Do you see the picture I’m painting here? We have what we need to survive daily. We had enough, but there I was complaining that we lacked stuff.

You don’t see this on Instagram because contrary to popular belief, influencers don’t actually share EVERYTHING! We show what we want you to see, and often times, these things are what’s good, nice, inspiring, and instagram-feed-worthy. It’s our best outfits, latest makeup products, pretty vanities with our current skincare routine, the stunning places we travel to, the staged sponsored content, the cute family photos, etc. We don’t usually share our struggles because if we’re being quite honest, nobody wants to see a downer on social media. I mean really, right?

So why am I sharing this?

It’s because a month and a half ago, I was able to land a brand deal that has provided us a non-toxic mattress worth $1400. It’s because family has blessed us with Christmas money and now we have a bed frame, a dresser for Addie, a table and a chair for me to do work and makeup on. I’ve gotten an awesome partnership with Society6 and now we have an aesthetically pleasing room. The point is, GOD PROVIDED, and if only I had a positive attitude during the time we didn’t have these things, during the “waiting”, I probably would have had more time being present, being happy, being the mom and wife I was supposed to be.

Getting Personal Over Bedroom Furniture

When Jorge came inside our room on January 1st, 2020, (yesterday) he said, “dang the room looks good!” So I asked him to take a quick snap of what he saw, and that’s the photo above. It’s not the prettiest shot; I had no makeup on, I was still in my clothes from the night before, both Addie and I’s hair are a mess, but it was not staged, it was an authentic moment, and it IS a reminder of God that I am blessed. If I knew I was going to have all that I was wanting before the year ended, I would have approached my day-to-day life more chill and less annoyed or ungrateful. 😅But yeah, I’m just really excited that our room finally looks like a bedroom, and it’s just giving me such great vibes for 2020!

So I guess I leave you with this… GOD IS ALWAYS WORKING IN OUR LIVES.

We may not always see it, or feel it, but know that HE IS. And that all we can do is to put our faith and trust in HIM, knowing that HE always works things out for our good. He always reveals and fulfills His promises to us in His time.

So I pray and hope that this year, 2020, as we begin to tackle our goals for the year or the next 10 years, we put complete confidence in God and all of the plans He has for us. That we may lean in closer to His word, and rely on what His word says, and live a life that is in line with the Word of God. That in times of worry, in times of doubt, in times where we feel like there’s no hope, or in times of joy, in times of laughter, in times of peace, in times of thanksgiving, we may remember to run to Him. God is truly the only one who can guide us through life, through His word, the holy spirit, and through His people. Not the stars, not the moon, not the crystals sitting on your vanity, and not whatever your signs say about you. Only God! So let’s try to give God more credit and allow Him to work in our lives.

Here’s to FAITH and TRUST this 2020!✨
