REN Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Oil Cleanser REVIEW

Jelly cleansers really sound so good and yummy but are they actually effective?

I’ve tried a few jelly cleansers but this is the first time I’ve tried an OIL jelly cleanser and it’s from the brand REN Clean Skincare. I got super excited when I received my PR package for this product because first of all, it’s from their Perfect Canvas line, which means, it’s in this beautiful coral pink packaging, and secondly, they also gave a set of rose gold stainless steel straws! What I love about this brand is that they’re not just a non-toxic beauty company, they’re also very passionate about the environment so they make sure their packaging is made from recycled materials, and are completely recyclable again! Anyway, I’ve gotten so off topic there, but I just wanted to mention that before I dive into my review.

So, without further ado, here are my thoughts on their new oil jelly cleanser! Do I love it, do I hate it? Let’s find out!

The Clean Jelly Oil Cleanser is an oil-based cleanser that claims to remove waterproof makeup, SPF, and dirt without stripping your skin of moisture, leaving your face feeling hydrated but squeaky clean at the same time. Their unique 3-phase cleansing experience allows for the product to transform itself from jelly to oil and then to milk. So no, this product will not foam up.

HOW I USE THE JELLY OIL CLEANSER:

I apply a semi-large amount on my palm, warm it up on my hands, and apply it directly to my dry face! I continue to warm up the product to really remove the makeup and any dirt, leaving my eye area for last just because I don’t like to see black straight off the bat. Once I feel like most of my makeup has broken down, I add a little bit of water to my face which then creates this milk-like formula, and I continue to massage my face to make sure I’ve gotten surface.

Then usually, I would rinse it off with water but I find that that method makes my face feel really filmy and thick like nothing gets rinsed off, so I grab a cleansing cloth or some thick toilet paper instead, and I swipe my face clean. Then I go ahead and use my gel foaming cleanser because I ALWAYS double cleanse whenever I use makeup or SPF.

MY THOUGHTS:

PROS

  • I AM IN LOVE WITH THE SMELL! It doesn’t smell poisonous, and I know that sounds intense, but because this brand uses clean ingredients, I’m more than happy to inhale this cleanser’s delicious scent! I know it’s safe!

  • It does an excellent job at breaking down stubborn eye makeup, aka, my 3 coats of mascara. And I love that it doesn’t sting my eyes.

  • My skin always feel really plump and soft because it doesn’t strip my skin of moisture.

  • It’s an overall great makeup remover or first step in my night time routine.

CONS

  • I don’t like that it doesn’t rinse off nicely for me and that I have to do an extra step of wiping it off with a cloth or towel. It always feels oily after, but it doesn’t bother me much since I double cleanse anyway. I did see on their website that a little goes a long way and that I may be using too much product.

  • If you wear makeup everyday, I feel like you’ll run through this tube fairly quickly, and it’s not the cheapest product.

MY OVERALL RATING: ★★★★☆

I’m giving this product a 4 out of 5 just because it doesn’t rinse off “clean”, and that I have to do that extra step of wiping it off. But like I said, I think it’s a solid makeup remover and the smell makes the whole cleansing experience so pleasant to me.
