Tie-Dye Must-Haves and Tips and Tricks

Who else is obsessed with tie-dye but don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on them? I got you fam!

Nobody thought that tie-dye would make a HUGE comeback but here we are, and I think this trend’s gonna stay awhile, thanks (or no thanks) to Corona. Like you, I wanted my own tie-dye stuff and started shopping around but was shocked at how much some of the clothes cost! I thought, heck, I can make these myself! And after seeing a lot of TikToks and my sisters creating their own, I took the plunge and shopped for tie-dye supplies and created my own shirts and hoodie!

Keep reading on where I got my supplies and links to video tutorials that helped me out!

TIPS ON HOW TO DO IT:

Tie-dyeing is fairly easy as long as you do some research beforehand! Once you have or have ordered your supplies, go ahead and do a quick Google or YouTube search on how to do some easy tie-dye projects! There are a few different ways or tie-dyeing styles so it’s up to you which one you want to do! And don’t be scared to be creative with it! That’s the fun in this; nothing’s supposed to be perfect!

The video tutorial I followed is this. I love her technique and love how hers turned out! Other videos I watched are: this, and this.

• For bleach dyeing, use dark shirts. Don’t leave the bleach in for too long.
• For using actual colors/dyes, use light colored fabrics. I love using white shirts or hoodies for this! If you use Rit Dye, you don’t have to leave the dye in for 8 hours like most tutorials. Just be sure to read up on Rit Dye’s instructions.
• Use a test cloth when creating your custom shades.
• When rinsing your tie-dye projects, be sure to rinse in cold water first, then warm, then hot. Do this until the water runs clear.
• Then wash your tie-dye projects in warm water. Be sure to wash with similar colors. DO NOT mix colors.

If you want to see a quick video on how I created my hoodie, watch HERE!

I think that’s all the important things I can share with you. If there’s anything I missed, feel free to ask me here on in my DM’s. Happy tie-dyeing!

xx, Corinth
